As a professional textile artist I also create works in a broad range of sizes and use a broad range of materials. I prefer to use reclaimed fabrics and notions. Felt is my favourite medium. I just love the feel of it on my hands, particularly woollen felt that I have made from pre-loved woollen jumpers. The above piece is titled “The Ibis loves to travel” This piece is created on a base of woollen felt and has been machine embellished with netting and other woollen fibres and threads. I have then gone into the piece and added a crochet piece and incorporated many hand stitches and beading.
