About Fybre

Hi my name is Susan Swenser and Fybre is my creation.

I love to create unique and quirky handmade keepsakes and treasures from recycled fabrics. I prefer to use discarded woollen garments and blankets because they are so soft, tactile and extremely hard-wearing once they have been felted. As much as I love everything to be handsewn, the occasion arises when I will pop things under the sewing machine or the machine embellisher too, depending on the finished look I am after.

My idea of Fybre began in 2007, just after the birth of my daughter, purely and simply because I didn’t really like a lot of toys that were on offer out there for her. More importantly because I liked the idea of my daughter being surrounded by friends that had been created by my hands, with my love. Treasures that then, she could pass onto her children, with her love, with an added story about their conception.

I began the Fybre collection with a range of quirky plush characters with loads of personality. I find however, that as my daughter grows, so to, do the mountains of other ideas within my creative, chaotic mind. From here it grew from toys to clothes, to bags, to sculptures, to decorative sculptures and artworks for your child’s room or home.
So far the Fybre range includes everything from children’s toys and clothing, sculptures, artworks, ladies handbags, brooches, storage boxes to pretty much anything else I conjure up at 4 in the morning when I can’t sleep. I still have a list a mile long that I haven’t even begun! Oh to have more time in a day.

Enjoy my blog and my collection of beautiful and quirky creations. I only ask that you please respect where the ideas were developed. If you would like to ask me any questions or commission anything special to be made, you can contact me, Susan Swenser, at fybre@bigpond.com

Cheers
